I was on my way to work today, relaxing on the short bus (seriously, my town’s busses are short) when I overheard this girl/woman who couldn’t have been much younger than I. She was talking to her daughter, who was probably three, who had just asked her mom for a kiss. The following, is a rough approximation of what she said.
Mom: No. I already told you about this. If mommy asks you for a kiss, and you say no, you are not going to get one if you ask me right after that. It doesn’t work that way.
I can’t tell if that is an important lesson or not. To me, it is. This girl is teaching her daughter that it is not OK to play games with affection. And she is teaching her daughter that she won’t always be in control of that affection. Her daughter will hopefully go into the real world (in who knows how long, because the age of innocence is closing more and more every day) and she will appreciate someone who wants to give her a kiss. When that someone leans in to kiss her, if she wants that kiss, she will kiss them back.
Or, that mom was just really fucking pissed at her kid for being a brat.

Day 3 of holidays...and I have only spent one of them with Jamison.
Whoo hoo. So glad I took this time off to be with my boyfriend!
I MISS MARK SO MUCH! AND DANA!
First day of holidays!
I can already tell that taking this time off will be JUST what I need. Jamison has this time off as well and all we’ve done today is go to lunch with some friends, watch Brave (such a good movie) and then lazed around watching season one of MXC.
Wheeeee!. Still a great show after…well, a number of years that I don’t like to admit have actually passed. Needless to say, it is a lot.
